After approximately 3 hours of travel, we will arrive in Edirne. Our first stop in Edirne, which was the capital of the Ottoman Empire for 88 years between 1365 and 1453, is the Karaağaç neighborhood, known as the "little Paris" of Edirne in the 19th century for its nightlife and the privileges granted to foreigners, but which fell under Bulgarian and then Greek occupation during the Balkan Wars and was finally reclaimed from Greece as war compensation with the Lausanne Treaty. This beautiful district, located 5 km away from Edirne center, captivates us with its original houses from the Greek period and tree-lined streets. After the Karaağaç tour, visiting the Historic Meriç Bridge, Lozan Monument, and Historic Karaağaç Train Station, we take a break at a tea garden. After this break, we visit one of the important historical sites in Edirne, the II. Bayezid Complex and Health Museum, where patients with mental illnesses were treated in the 16th century with water sounds, music, and pleasant scents, which won the European Museum Award in 2004 awarded by the Council of Europe. We take photos of the depictions and figures in the Health Museum and conclude our visit here. After the Health Museum visit, we move to the Palace area. During our tour of the palace, we will visit the historic Kırkpınar oil wrestling arena, Adalet Kasrı, Fatih and Palace bridges, and the remains of the Edirne Palace where two important Ottoman Sultans, Mehmet and Cem Sultan, were born and ruled, as we complete our visit to the Babüssade, palace kitchens, Cihannüma Kasrı, and Kum Kasrı under the informative explanations of our guide. After our visit here, we will head to the city center to taste the world-renowned Edirne Liver and Edirne Kebab from our meal menu. (Extra) After the meal, we marvel at the Üç Şerefeli Mosque, famous for its gate, the Old Mosque (Ulu Mosque) adorned with writings, and Selimiye Mosque, which Mimar Sinan declared to be his masterpiece. After visiting the Arasta Bazaar, we have free time for shopping for Edirne's famous Deva-i Misk Dessert, Marzipan, Edirne Cheese, the traditional mirror bride broom, and local fruit soaps at Keçecizade. After our free time, we will proceed with a panoramic and in-vehicle explanation of Şükrü Paşa Monument and Region Monument provided by our guide, and then begin our return journey to Istanbul. By taking breaks along the way, we will arrive back in Istanbul, concluding our tour and hoping to meet you in another VENÜS TOUR organization.
